Are you connected to a Scottish clan with a beautiful tartan or perhaps you have a favourite tweed? At NIXEY we offer a bespoke service to our customers. You choose the fabric, the leather colour from our heritage selection & the fittings finish (chrome or antique bronze). We then source your fabric* & create your very own custom 1834 . Our estimated** delivery time for a custom order is 4-6 weeks. Prior to ordering, if you would like to see a digital rendering of your bag, please email us with your choice of tartan, leather & fittings, & we will be happy to provide this.

Handmade near the Highlands, our bespoke bags unite the skill of two Scottish artisan workshops.  The fabrics we source are woven in historic Scottish mills, from natural wool fibres.  Traditional sporran-makers then work with the fabric & our heritage leathers to create each bag. 

NIXEY's 1834 Collection takes inspiration from the sporran accessory, native of Scotland. Handmade near the Highlands of Scotland, each 1834 has an adjustable strap so it can be worn as a long or short shoulder bag & as a beltbag. Designed with an expanding leather inner, the bag is compact yet deceivingly spacious.

Borne out of necessity in the 12th century, Highland warriors were the first to wear the leather sporran, over a kilt - a single piece of tartan cloth requiring no tailoring, and therefore no pockets. This modern reinterpretation by NIXEY stays true to the original design essence, yet adds an element of surprise as each 1834 seamlessly interchanges from shoulder bag to waist bag, reflecting the versatility of contemporary life. The 1834 gives you the freedom to wear your own way!

*Prices are based on us sourcing stock tartans/ tweed from a large Scottish mill, such as Lochcarron. There could be an additional supplement to pay if the fabric required is custom / not so readily available. If you have any questions email us prior to ordering & we can confirm.

There may be times we can deliver faster than this & they’re could even be times it takes a little longer.
